Yangpu District Bureau of Justice holding a community law counsel (law specialist) stage I work review meeting

On the afternoon of March 28, Yangpu District Bureau of Justice held a community law counsel (law specialist) stage I work review meeting. Present at the meeting were Shang Zhongqiang, Director of the Grass-root Affairs Office of Shanghai Bureau of Justice; Gu Guoqing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Work Committee of Changabi Sub-district; Hu Weiming, Director of Zinger Law Office; and other specially invited judges, as well as responsible persons of community law service institutions participating in the project. The meeting was directed by Deputy Director Zhou Zhiyu.

Responsible persons of eight law counsel institutions briefed and exchanged their work with regard to how to conduct community work, bring the positive role of law specialists into play, solve problems encountered at work, etc. Gu Guoqing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Work Committee of Changabi Sub-district, said that Changbai was the first sub-district to have introduced law specialists into communities, and that he knew well about the demands of community for law service support, and that lawyers should shoulder more social responsibilities and perform real deeds for social development in Yangpu.

Shang Zhongqiang, Director of the Grass-root Affairs Office of Shanghai Bureau of Justice, said that the community law counsels of Yangpu District had done solid work, and that the eight law service institutions had manifested their unique features at work: Sailjus has regularly developed service features and served target disadvantaged social groups; Lily has introduced an expert backup model; Lvyou has devoted itself to guiding community self-governance and providing the most urgently needed services for communities; Kaizheng focuses on solving the dilemma caused by community population aging; Youyi focuses on resolving property disputes based on surveys; Beiqin has participated in the reelection of three neighborhood committees; Puwang provides precision service to settle inheritance disputes and avoid the loss of affection due to litigation; Hucan adheres to monthly duty and checks on contracts.

As pointed out by Deputy Director Zhou Zhiyu, the review meeting has realized “four objectives”, i.e. conduct objective assessment; discuss problems, contradictions and obstacles in depth; exchange with various law service institutions; and continuously carry forward the community law counsel (law specialist) project. It is our hope that lawyers will serve as the backbone to consolidate existing results and offer better community law service.
